Hey, everybody! Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Waiting on surgery this morning. Rick brought Hekate to me, so I’ll be able to carry on while in hospital. Not exactly a lot to keep you busy here. Everyone is wonderful, but I hate staying in hospital.

Fuck. Stay strong, be comfortable and don’t hesitate to ask for whatever you need. Nurses get busy and it’s the squeaky wheel the gets the grease first. I know this because I was one in the before time. A nurse I mean, although I’m now I am a squeaky wheel. I am sending love.

I hope you have shed some tubes and they give you excellent pain meds. Thanks for giving us an update, complete with a Ratmas pic. Rest and heal. If the tubes don’t limit your mobility too much maybe Mister could get you a sketch pad and pens? Lying in a bed gets so tedious.

I’m good, but thank you very much. I have an excellent team, who might let me get out of this squirrel cage on Monday (maybe). Then it will be a bit, then the radiotherapy will start. I’ll be under treatment for most of next year. All the surrounding areas and organs look good right now.

I did get rid of the catheter and oxygen. I have my tablet, got that last night, so I have plenty to read. I’ve started on Thomas Mullen’s new series, Darktown and Lightning Men, which is centered on the first eight black cops on the Atlanta PD in the late 1940s and early ’50s. Absolutely fascinating, and infuriating. A recent post of Marcus’s has me revisiting the culture, too.
Yay for fewer tubes, especially the catheter and YAY YAY for the surrounding areas looking good. Sleep as much as you can, you need more sleep when you are doing major healing

Chigau, oh no, you don’t have something going wrong too, do you? I hope whatever it is, it’s mild and temporary. Gotta say, it’s a bit disconcerting to see a fair portion of your gut bulging out. Got the doc to agree to letting me go sometime Monday. So that will be good, I’ll get much more rest there than I will here.

I know the rats miss me, Rick is just feeding them crunchies, and probably not enough to suit them! Rick called this morning, and I asked him what the noise was, and it was Jayne, so I said “Hi Jaynie” and he went into full tilt howl, with Doll providing back up. Gad. I do love Jayne, but he’s a monster (weighs considerably more than I do), and he’s going to want to run over and head butt me, at least. Rick’s going to have to run interference.

When I came home after a hysterectomy to bouncy dogs who would be excited to see me they were shut out while I came in, sat down and put a pillow over my tummy, then the bouncing ones were allowed in the room. It more or less worked …
Soft food is a good start. Hope it all behaves as it should.

I’m so glad you came through so very well. I have good expectations for myself. I’m a pragmatist to the core, and I’m content to take it all one step at a time and in stride; I’m much more worried about Rick, he’s having a very difficult time with all this, because of course he wants to do something; to fix me, to kick cancer’s ass, all that. It’s really tough to feel sidelined and not be able to do anything.

That sounds like a plan. Jayne is adorable, but he’s retarded and annoyingly enthusiastic about everything. Doll is calm by nature, and she’s 16 now, but Rick said she keeps wandering over to him and poking him with her nose. That’s a sign of high distress with her. I’m the one who is usually home, so they’re a bit frittered by my absence.
Caine, I am really glad the surgery went well and things seem to be on a good track. I cannot imagine what you are going through.
Yay for modern medicine. Not being an MD I am wary of voicing opinions, but I guess that when surrounding tissue is OK it is a good sighn that the damn thing did not start metastizing yet. Hope for the best and warm thougthts send your way via the intertubes.

As others have said, the illness is very bad news to all of us, but the medical treatment available to you is good news. May it go as well as possible.
