Sleepy Lizard.


From Lofty: A couple of pictures of a “Sleepy Lizard” or Shingleback, found on a street near the railway line. It needed a gentle lift with a stick to get itself up the concrete kerb to get back into the bushes. Click for full size!

    Once upon a time, it is said, Finnish children made toy farm animals by sticking four sticks as “legs” on a spruce cone. If the end result actually represented any animal in any artistically meaningful sense, this would be it.

    They scuttle, quite adroitly. Their tummies are as slippery as silken sheets. Predators can’t stop laughing so Lizzie gets away.
