In the lower right corner of the first photo, there’s a bee taking a cake-bath.
And the second has a wasp cameo, I only saw it now.
I can’t be sure how much of that cake was devoured by humans prior to the arrival of the hymenopterans, but I do know the bees got the last word. They got their cake, and they were eating it, too.

I wonder how many times more energy efficient a block of solid fat and sugar is for the bees. Basically it is like finding a stack of solid gold cinderblocks. What is “happiness”?

I have a similar picture somewhere of a ball of bees on a hummingbird feeder.

I like the wasp photobomb. :D

Send the stuff to me, bees aplenty here. I had to evict one out of the pink rose I was picking for the vase. Stroppy little beggar didn’t want to leave. Gave it a perfectly good substitute flower too.

I caught the moment, but the cake was (probably delicious) jam cake (regular cake base with fruit jam slathered on top and then a sugar-and-spice crumble on top… i’m guessing, I never got a piece; didn’t feel like reaching past that horde), left out in the open air for the afternoon, and one of the nearby farmers has bees… They find All The Sweet Things!!!!!!
