There is a wealth of heartbreak at The Migrant Quilt Project, but it’s heartbreak all should feel. No one should be able to turn a cold heart and hateful mind to the mute witness of so much death.

Unknown, unknown, unknown, unknown … all the unknown were living people with hopes, and dreams and fear …
Yes. All the quilts contain an overwhelming amount of unknowns, including infants and small children. Their loved ones will never know.
Died in the desert. Denied the dignity of comfort and family at their passing … unless their family died with them … I have no words …
“Unknown”. Yes, that one really sticks in the heart. No names, no faces… I hope each of them had somebody to love them, while they still lived.
I’m leaving a damaged, possibly doomed ecosystem and a corrupt soulless and profoundly unfair republic to my children and heirs. And everyone else too. Again, no words.
