Dancing, more like. :) But ominous as all fuck. Stomp, stomp. Like my ancient tree creature out in that field, but more ponderous and threatening -- blunt, not sharp.

I always think dancing, too. There’s more going on than walking. A secret celebration or ritual, and yes, best to stay out of the way.

Secret ritual, yes!! I thunk that’s spot on with the atmosphere. Being secretly observed and possibly spotted, in terror.

Oh gods, I hate touchscreen keyboards. Oh yes, being spied by someone who does not want to reveal themselves. I’d be pretty flipped by trees dancing, but I’d still want to see. Rain dance? Fertility dance? Worshipping the moon?

Trees can sometimes look like that when they’ve grown on an abandoned anthill or a fallen log that then disintegrated, or if the soil erodes from between roots.

These roots are made for walking
and that’s just what they’ll do.
One of these day these roots
are gonna walk all over you!

I don’t think that walking trees stomp, they wade through the earth
    like yumons wade in water.

  8. rq says

I think if needed, they can do a wonderful, heavy-rooted stomp. As an exception.
All other times, beware the churning of the earth.
