If Halcyon was associated with kingfishers, why’s this look like goose x maurice sendak?
They are only mildly associated with Kingfishers. The myth is a very old one. The colours assigned to the mythical Halcyon were from a Kingfisher. In bestiaries, it was recorded that when the Halcyon laid her eggs, there would then be Halcyon days -- no storms, no high waves, etc.
I approve. ;)
And I finally know where that phrase comes from. :D
