Can’t play the video (probably need flash player or summat), but Ezera Skaņas means “Lake Sounds”. Sounds like a great idea. I wonder if it’s a recent thing; my mum’s never heard of it. The only Latvian festival I’ve attended is Jāņi. Very pagan.

Oh, also, on one Riga Tour site, it was noted that the festival is never well publicized; people don’t want it that known about. And in the videos, it does have a very intimate feel.

Jāņi is like christmas, you can do it en masse or individually or however you like, so long as you do it pagan! This is an organized event (not really a festival), with the concert timed to end with the dawning of the sun (around 5am this time of year). It is fairly recent -- 2012 sounds about right, but I’m pretty sure the first two or so events were very closed-group. Unlike Positivus, which strives to be everything for everyone, this one’s far more meditative and focussed on the experience within nature -- this appeals.
