Male Scorpion Fly.

It’s macro day at the Caine Corral. Wonderful little critter. I didn’t even know such a thing existed.

Kengi, I knew during my studies, then forgot over last twenty years, and now I re-discovered the species through the camera lens. When I saw them, I thought to myself “scorpion fly would be a fitting name for these” and later I found that in English that is indeed their name.

Interesting looking insect. This one wouldn’t be believable if it were fictional.

Those wings look pretty strong and highly textured. I wonder what it eats with that mouth.

@voyager, according to my library it injects dead or injured insects with digestive fluids and then sucks the digested juices. Sounds yummy, doesn’t it?
