They did, and they are lovely. Thank you so much for being willing to get them for us. I’m curious as to what they are made of, they have a ceramic ‘ring’ to them (heh), and are much sturdier than I expected.

That’s a neat idea. I’m not sure I like the branding/marketing aspects of it -- it makes me immediately doubt that they’re doing it for any reason other than brand awareness. (They probably got enough “free press” over it that their marketing people are happy little shits)

I have some silver and a jeweler’s mandrel. Since I know it’s going to be longer than the rest of my life, I think maybe I’ll make my own ring with a gap. Hm.

Y’know, there’s some stuff where I just don’t give one shit about the marketing aspect. Campaigns like this are needed, and if companies who have a tonne of money are willing to fund them, good. It’s not like governments are doing anything, and in Australia, these rings did not cost anything -- only a minimum to cover postage and shipping.

I would love to see such a campaign here, as I said before, and if people want to make them, great! I just don’t think anyone should do so with an eye to profit, which is what would most likely happen here.

I think that using the resources of a successful company to promote marriage equality is a fine thing to do. Anyway, over 58,000 rings have been sold so the message is getting traction.

Caine, I suspect that the rings are made from anodized hardened aluminium alloy judging from their weight, or the lack of it.

    !!!
Exciting! Suddenly I’m nervous I ordered too large, even though it’s for my thumb. Thank you, Lofty!!

rq, even the biggest ring just fitted on my little finger tip, as I have very large hands. It’s not huge so don’t worry.
