Thor’s Day Mood.

Nine Inch Nails – Hurt.

If I disappear today, it’s because pain. Yesterday was pain clinic, and I feel like someone took a baseball bat and knocked me out of the park. In reality, the injection site lump is small, but packs a huge wallop. Barely mobile, and I’d like to have a day long love affair with my heating pad.

I prefer the original, although I also like Gregorian’s cover, and of course, Cash’s. Best is the concert with Reznor and Bowie singing it.

I’m feeling for you Caine. (Have you tried duloxetine?) I think Johnny Cash did this best, but I never heard Reznor and Bowie. I will listen to it as soon as I’m near decent speakers.

Raucous Indignation, the video is here. That was sprung as a surprise on fans at a concert, no one knew.

Oh, I have meds, I just haven’t taken them. I’m already wiped out, and if I want to get anything done, I need to do it before taking them, else I’ll just wander off and sleep.

Duloxetine isn’t an opiate. It is an atypical antidepressant that is also approved for chronic nocioceptive pain. I find it very helpful as an adjunct to opiates in the treatment of chronic pain. Generally non-sedating and well tolerated. It’s not a controlled substance, and it not expensive. It’s available generic. Feel better. You can email me if you need an electronic shoulder to bitch at.

Raucous Indignation, thank you. :) Oh, I know what duloxetine is, but I won’t take anything classed as an anti-depressant, I do not react to them well at all. Ages ago, a rheumatologist talked me into a course of paroxetine, and wow, not good.

I get that, but it is an atypical and the dose for pain is considerably lower than for its antidepressant effect. It’s much much less sedating than gabapentin or pregabalin for example. You write as if you’ve been through many different drugs and doctors. You have my sympathy and empathy on your situation. I’ll stop throwing ideas out there. Don’t want to be a bother.

Raucous Indignation, oh you are never a bother, not for one moment! Y’know how it is, you start talking health, and most people glaze over. My meds are fine, if anything, they aren’t always effective at the preferred dose, and I’m rather tightly reigned in by the amount allowed per scrip. My actual complaint is the idiocy of federal laws here, and how they make obtaining and prescribing, for that matter, a pain in the ass for everyone.

I don’t have a problem with opiates making me sleepy, very little has the power to put me down. In my experience, only two things can actually put me out, and quickly, those being barbiturates or morphine. I don’t have access to either. The day after pain clinic, I’m always a bit of a mess, and generally don’t want to do anything except cover myself with a quilt and hug my heating pad, and taking my meds early makes me decide to do just that, rather than get anything done. :D

I’ve taken my meds now, and will be gratefully collapsing into a book, compleat with quilt and heat. It’s a bit odd, I don’t always have a bad reaction to the injections, sometimes they aren’t bad at all, and others, I just end up feeling worked over for a few days.
