A Yellow-hooded Blackbird, from “The”. Beautiful! Here, to get shots of Yellow-headed blackbirds, you need to get into the very thick rushes by water, generally at the height of tick season. That would be why it’s a rarity for me to get such shots. Click for full size.

What a beautiful bird!
The marsh where I photographed it (on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia) is blissfully tick-free, praise Zarquon!
One thing that you may not be able to tell from the photo is that this species is quite small and gracile compared to the Yellow-headed Blackbird of N.A. (nothing against them, they’re great-looking, but kind of honkin’); a really “cute” sort of bird, for a blackbird.
It certainly looks dainty and stylinl’.
Speaking of blackbirds, I saw my first spring blackbird two days ago, at the side of the road (alive). And today -- the first snowdrops (finally!), photo proof to follow… eventually. ;)
Very nice capture. We occasionally get those around some of the lakes here, but the Red-Winged Blackbirds are much more common.
Very stylish, while black and yellow is a tense combination of colours, this one pulls it off nicely.
