Frost has made the trees and the birds hairy.

The birds pops out in the first from the neutral coloured background.

In the second and the fourth the blue tit’s concentration on the European style suet ball is intense.

Love that perching on the almost vertical branch in the third.

They are cute to the point of overload. Tiny fluffballs. And the least fearfull.

I hope to persuade them to nest in my garden next sommer. I built three nesting boxes, one specifically for blue tits -- it has a very small opening, so no other bird can enter it.

Perhaps I manage to get some other european birds for you in due course. There are more than 10 species frequenting my garden around the newly built bird feed, and a few more during the spring migration.

I’ve tried photographing blue tits, too, but I just wasn’t cold enough… I mean, I haven’t managed shots as wonderful as these! I love their bright blueness, like little parrots of the north!
And oddly, I’ve always found the great tits a lot braver -- with the far smaller coal tits and wood tits the shyest of them all.
