“Hey Nigger. Pick that up. Keep my streets clean.”

Shaun King has been tracking hate incidents, which are piling up at an alarming rate. I read about 30 something of them in this article at Raw Story, and I just can’t take anymore. The tweet I posted above is one of the milder ones. This is, I don’t know, I don’t have a word. Nightmare sounds positively pleasant in comparison to what is taking place now. Going by the words and the actions of all the Trumpians, and the children of those toxic people, they’d be just great with concentration camps. They are already busy treating people as worse than animals, they are treating people as things, and that always leads to the greatest of ills.

I feel sick and angry. One of the incidents on King’s twitter feed happened in a town not 20 miles from where I live -- a town I am in fairly often. In blue NorCal, roughly and hour’s drive north of San Francisco.

All these months of watching news or reading articles about bigoted things Trump has said, violent behavior at rallies etc, I knew racist and sexist behavior was being normalized. I feared this sort of thing could happen. But honestly, this much this soon? It is happening to all kinds of people (Muslims, LGBT, women, PoC) happening in all kinds of places -- schools, the burbs, towns all across the whole country. Even ‘blue’ NorCal. And I am shocked at the size and scope of this and it’s only been one day! This scares me all to hell. I fear it has just begun. How much worse might it get?

How much anger, how much hate has been lying dormant…! I had some small idea… but apparently that was a very small idea.
Maybe this immediate flare-up will die down as the emotional aftereffects of the election wear off. But that’s a very tiny candle inside a very dark and windy tunnel right now. The sheer number of incidents doesn’t make me believe that very much; I fear for so many people.

This is all so horrible, words fail. By electing Trump, his voters have commited a crime against humanity, and they are beyond redemption.

I’m no longer going to say I’m in disbelief or shock. This is what I’ll be expecting every day from all sorts of white people.

Just as women are right to be wary of the arbitrary stranger man, POC are justified in being careful around random white strangers.

    Excluded Layman:

    They’re treating people like prey.

Same difference, I’m afraid. They certainly aren’t viewing them as human beings.
