The Cheapshit Medicated Series.

Got a few more cards done (these pass as business cards, of a sort – blog urls & e-address on the back).

I know better than to buy cheapshit art supplies, I really do, but I do it anyway, because it gives me a near heart attack to part with 60 to 80 dollars for a 20-30 set of good markers. I also take very bad photos when I am cranky and medicated. And no, I don’t know what any of them are, or mean. This is a brain on druuuuugs. ;D

I’ve had a fun time looking at these and seeing things in them.

The lower right one could work as an illustration to Kalevala. More specifically the Rune II (Väinämöinen’s sowing, Crawford’s translation from 1888 uses the spelling Wainamoinen)

  2. chigau (違う) says

Lower Left: a crab who is taking the same meds as Caine
Upper Left: sunrise Cypress Hills ca.1982
Upper Right: 1960’s poster cautioning against recreational drugs
Lower Right: I defer to Ice Swimmer (I was thinking Japanese wood-block)

Cheapshit markers are fun for the exact reason that you don’t feel bad for misusing them.
Anyway, these are lovely, and I like chigau’s interpretations.
I like your art, medicated or not!

Upper left is clearly the sun rising over the Sea of Green as 4 Yellow Submarines race by. Lower left is a fancy purple sea animal lying on the side of a dragon. Lower right is a photo snapped of the shore, from a raft traveling down a river, as a wave comes up from the side. Upper right is the doodling of someone who likes Tolkien and Keith Haring.

I love all the interpretations and associations, and I got new reading material out of it!

Today is the dreaded horse test day, time to wash it. Okay, I better go do that. (How much do you have to love the recommendation to “wash inside out” when you don’t have an inside out?)
