Juliana Brown Eyes-Clifford and her husband, Scotti Clifford, were among the arrested on Monday at the Sacred Stone Camp.

“This is about water and land,” said Juliana Brown Eyes-Clifford who along with her husband Scotti Clifford, both from the band Scatter Their Own, were arrested. “We have to take a stand to protect the water and land for generations to come.”

Remember that posting where I argued that being a cop is inherently an immoral job because it means upholding a body of laws that you cannot possibly agree with and which don’t apply to you? Those cops could refuse to arrest the protesters. If they did, then their cop lives would matter. But as long as they are “putting their lives on the line” (I don’t see danger for the cops in that picture) for the wrong cause, they are allowing themselves to become collateralized parts of the machinery of oppression. If this were a war, they’d be fair targets.

So they arrest brown-skinned people who try to defend their land and they arrest black people who try to defend their right to live.

How the fuck can anyone say with a straight face that America is not a fully white supremacist state?

Got me. You won’t find me saying it isn’t a white supremacist state, it is, complete with storm troopers. Last I heard, the total arrests were at 28, but I expect they’ll be higher. It’s a good thing people are being tiyospaye* and giving so generously to Sacred Stone Camp, because they are going to need a lot of bail money.

Well, the right wing nutbars point to Obama and say, ‘See?’, as if that really means anything.

Meanwhile, the rest of us point to all the racist shitstream that we’ve been enduring for the last 8 years (not that it hasn’t been there before, but not as openly), and say ‘See?’

I don’t suppose Cliven Bundy’s supporters would be a positive contribution to the situation… It is interesting how long his lot got to do their shenanigans on federal lands before they drew a response; must have not had any oil interests’ money involved.

Oh, the cops and feds managed to screw NDNs over there, too. All that took place on Paiute territory, and no one much cared about all the damage they were left with, having no money to fix it and all.

    Where are the allies?

Well, according to this asshole, they want their oil, and hey, our land is the least bad place.

Oh yeah, and I learned that we’re just citizens like everyone else. Good to know, eh?

Well, I was more thinking the white environmental activists who are able to travel and stand beside the people already trying to protect the land, but I see your point.

and I learned that we’re just citizens like everyone else

Funny how you missed the memo on that. :/
