Linus Lundin – who works under the pseudonym Yash – has done most of his work in the Swedish capital, where he has lived for the last five years after moving from the small town of Gnesta.

His colourful murals are marked by their emotive faces and depictions of animals interacting with humans. Each one takes around five days to complete – not including the extensive planning and sketching that is required beforehand.

“It’s important to get the expressions right in my paintings,” he explained.

“I get my inspiration from my own feelings and the feelings of those around me. I ponder about and depict security, the search for something, and anxiety quite a lot. I also think a lot about the relationship between humans and animals.”

Incredibly, Lundin has no formal education in art beyond high school level. Instead, he developed his style by putting in hours and hours of hard practice.

“I just went out and painted, but there’s a lot of time and work behind everything,” he noted.

“I’ve painted murals for over ten years now, but they didn’t always look like they do now. Finding my aesthetic has been a long process. I was lucky enough to have a wall in the small town I grew up in where I could develop my work legally.”

Impressive. I did not see anything in the article or on the website, but how does he do his murals? What I mean is, do you know if he uses a brush, spray, or some other method?

Oh, thanks! I missed that. I looked at the murals and canvasses and the about links, but did not click on the videos. DOH!

From the three videos that I saw posted about the murals, it looks like he uses rollers for the base coat, but primarily uses spray paint for the details of the art. But I appreciate you pointing me to those. I liked the first of the three videos better because the action was more “real-time” as opposed to the time-compressed format of the second and third.

Ah, thanks. I only watched the 2nd one, because I’m on a data cap, and if I watch too many vids, it costs me hundreds of dollars.

    data cap = :-(
Is that a two-way cap or just on downloads? And is it just videos that affect you so much because they are so big? Just wondering about your posting. And if I am contributing to pushing you towards your cap, I apologize.

Johnson catman @ 6, no, no worries. I’m on Verizon, and when you go over your limit, they charge you, like a library for overdue books, but seeing as it’s fucking Verizon, the fees are considerable. Even brief videos eat a good portion of the monthly allowance, so I do my best to keep it down. It’s annoying as fuck to be stuck with them, but there are no better options when you live out in the sticks.

Foxes in hoodies are my new favorite thing.

All his people and animals, except birds, are wearing some sort of cold weather gear. It’s adorable.
