Oooh. The moss looks so cool. (Neato cool as well as low temperature cool.) It’s such a hot day here. That picture is like drinking cool lemonade. And the background really came out nice behind those (little?) yellow flowers.

Pretty sure the flowers are Daffodils (Narcissus, specifically Jonquil). Happy flowers! Don’t know what the little ones are.

The middle photo is of Jonquils and the bottom is of a Wattle, no idea of the species. There’s more than an inch in the rain gauge so far today and it’s below 10C so the fire has been going full bore.

That sounds lovely, and I do not like winter at all. Everyone this side of the pond is baking. It did get cloudy yesterday, but not for long, and no rain.

Our winters are pretty mild as winters go, I even got in a 2 hour bike ride between storms today. Summers though are pretty cruel as I passionately hate the heat we get for 4 months or so.

How large are those Jonquil blooms? My mind relates them to similar looking flowers around here which are tiny (about 10-12 mm) across, but the images in link make them look much larger.

Jonquils here are definitely bigger than that. Though I suppose there could be some where the individual blooms in the clusters at the top of the stem might be _really_ small rather than being just a smaller version of the big showy daffodils.

(I’m off to steal some from the quite large clumps in daughter’s garden this week. She’s got heaps and I have none, so that’s fair.)

The biggest of our Jonquils are a little more than an inch across and they stand about 12″ high. Just a couple of small clumps of them so far. There are plenty of other bulbs sending up greenery in the meadow garden, hopefully making a riot of colour there in a few weeks.

Thanks for the info on the flowers. I really look forward to seeing some of that riot!
