Dads for Transgender Equality.

While the Republican National Convention is busy demonizing LGBT people in Cleveland, the Human Rights Campaign is trying to change the conversation.

The latest volley in that effort hit the web Wednesday, when the nation’s largest LGBT advocacy group released a new educational video featuring the fathers of four transgender children — including Wayne Maines, whose daughter Nicole won a landmark legal victory in 2014 after a years-long battle to have her Maine school district recognize her as the girl she is.

In the video, dads of a diverse group of trans youth discuss their experiences in raising and supporting their children, and get candid about the unique challenges presented by parenting a transgender child.

I’m all sniffy now. Great dads all! Via The Advocate.

Thank you for posting. Good stuff to see and pass along, and a nice way to start the day.

I’m a bit overwhelmed. I’m sure I’ll have something more useful to say later, but right now I’m out on a pass from a psych hospital that I’ve been in for the last 8 weeks. How I was treated (growing up) as trans* had everything to do with my being suicidal and unable to eat the last few months. I’m crying my eyes out thinking that what I’m going through now will be less common for the next generation.

Chigau, I just saw that you lost someone important to you -- your senpai, you said? -- I’ll be thinking generously of you as well.

In the meantime, my partner is kicking my ass for not eating for weeks at a time, so I’m going to be doing my best to get a little food in me before Vancouver’s TransMarch & DykeMarch (next Fri & Sat evenings).

If anyone is interested in meeting up on the drive either evening, you can always e-mail “cripdyke” over at the gmail thingy.

Caine: I have great faith that your care is always with me. Thank you for your generous spirit. I really wish we had some time to spend together in person

It has to be done. I’ve had a rotten time myself this year, too many issues, not enough self care, and found myself weighing 94 lbs. It’s been months of cramming food, in a desperate attempt to gain weight. Finally, I’m back to 105. I know you may not want to, but eat! If for no other reason, sooner or later, your pancreas will revolt, and that’s a bad, bad pain.
