    Very bedraggled looking, yes. That said, the Blue Jays around here are very enthusiastic bathers, water everywhere!

    I was at Madera Canyon in Southern Az friday (if you’re a birder, it should be on your bucket list of places to visit).

    I saw four new ‘life list’ birds: 1) a blue grosbeak (lots of them!); 2) Varied buntings; 3) and elf owl; and 4) an elegant trogon. Not only did I see both the male and female trogon, I spotted their nest. :)

    They all sound gorgeous! I haven’t seen any of those. Did you get photos?

    Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera on me, just my cell phone. I snapped some shots of the trogon, just for evidence (it’s a pretty rare bird here in the states), and they are good enough to tell it’s a (male) trogon, but that’s about it. :(
