Protestors outside Beyoncé concert in Houston — (KHOU screen grab)

Beyoncé got a rude hometown welcome on her return to Houston, when local law enforcement officers and supporters protested outside her concert on Saturday.

As fans lined up to see Beyoncé’s sold-out concert at NRG Stadium they were treated to cops, sheriff’s deputies and supporters — some wearing “Police Lives Matter” T-shirts — railing against her appearance, reports KHOU.

“Some of her performances we believe to be anti-police,” explained Tony Ragsdale, from the Pasadena Police Department and a member of the Coalition for Police and Sheriffs (C.O.P.S.).

To make their point, the members of C.O.P.S. shined a large blue light on the outside of the concert venue.

Besides references to Black Lives Matter — which many law enforcement officials see as a slam at their profession following the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson — Beyoncé‘s video also featured a police cruiser sinking in the flood waters of New Orleans.

Previously, the Tampa Police Department encountered difficulties getting cops to volunteer to work security at her sold-out show in April.

Cops – don’t criticize us! Don’t make references to us! Don’t ever mention the numerous times we fuck up! Don’t say a word about all the murders we commit and get away with! Don’t suggest we police ourselves! Don’t suggest we’re scarily power mad! Don’t suggest we’re bigoted! And on and on it goes.

Wait -- I thought cops wanted to be considered heroic for risking their lives. Now they want to be heroic for whining about risking their lives?

I’m not buying it: the kill-ratio hugely favors the cops so if anything it’s “heroic” to deal a cop and survive.

I don’t see anything new here, it’s cops bullying people because they can get away with it. Shining a big blue light on the concert venue: we can screw you over, and don’t forget it! Fuck, if they want attention, let them own up to all the wrong and start cleaning house.

As a reminder, the LA policegoons, and in particular, their creepily-named union, the “Police Protective League”, threw a major panties-twisted wobbly when the goon chief proposed an award for not using lethal force, Police union scorns LAPD award for officers who use non-lethal force: “Blog unanimously approved by Los Angeles union leadership calls Preservation of Life medal ‘a terrible idea that will put officers in even more danger’.” And “So far this year [November 2015], there have been 45 officer-involved shootings in Los Angeles, double the number through the same time period last year. Nineteen of this year’s shootings have been fatal, up from 18 deaths in all of 2014 and 26 in 2011.”

You know what the cops could do to put their lives even more in danger??? Leave the lethal weaponry at home.

I love how the cops always want plaudits for going “in harms’ way” but constantly harp about how armor-piercing bullets are ‘cop killers’ and make things more dangerous for them, etc. They ought to be going out there naked and unarmed -- maybe then I’d be impressed.
