    Makes you wonder how the original builders of the town got water up to the top, apart from catching rain water.

    To me, it looks like a painting of the buildings photoshopped onto the natural background. The town definitely looks surreal. But your assessment is shared by me: Beautiful!

    It was indeed a surreal sight. We climbed up through narrow winding alleys and all of a sudden you turn a corner and that is your view. The green roofed building you see in the front is the mausoleum of Idris, the founder of the town and of the Idrisi dynasty.

    I have some more shots and pictures from within the city, but haven’t gotten around to editing them yet.

    I can only imagine what it must have been like to actually be there. I didn’t even ask -- Saad, did you go all the way up?

    No, we didn’t walk through the top parts of the town since those are mostly just homes and neighborhoods. We stayed in the lower part where the shops and artisans area and we also went to the mosque and mausoleum. A nice benefit of being brown people from Muslim countries since non-Muslims were prohibited in those areas :P

    I did wonder what the view of the mountain looking out from up there would be, but you’d probably have to go on the roof of someone’s house to get a decent view.
