I almost thought you were going to link to Vega’s As Gitls Go. That one describes some aspects of my first years of transition.

“Solitude Standing” was my first album on CD. Thank you for reminding me just how good it was.

Suzanne Vega rocks! I saw her several times live, & she’s totally awesome. I used to visit my parents regularly, & would stop just before getting to a particularly-nice mountain pass road, toke up, then put a Suzanne Vega CD on — full volume! — & cruise on home. Good times!

I have been a huge fan for, damn, almost three decades. As a college DJ, I was probably one of the first persons to have played Luka on the air. I pick up the days mailings for my station on my way to my show and played the song with out even pre-listening.
I am also liking her re-recording of songs. As much as I loved her first album, I never liked the adding of the Windham Hill musician to her songs. It is great to hear her without that gloss. And she stills sounds pretty much the same all of these years later.
