Professional heterosexual Matt Barber writes about tackling gay people

In a letter to “average, ordinary gay people”, he says:

If you have a loved one, blindfolded and running full speed toward cliff’s edge, do you not yell, stop! Would you not run after them, even tackling them if need be to prevent them from plummeting to certain death? What would we think of the person who said: “Keep running; all is well.”

All is not well, and you know it. On this path, “it” decidedly does not “get better.” It only gets worse. You will fall and you will die – perhaps not physical death, straight away – but certainly, an emotional and spiritual death. Homosexual activists, “progressives,” Hollywood, the media, academia and popular culture are telling you to keep running.

I’m yelling, stop!

Barber is blindfolded and running headlong for the cliff. I for one am cheering him on. That’s how evolution WORKS.

He really says it himself so well:
“Christians do not hate you. We love you intensely. We love you because of who you are, not because of what you do or because of who you think you are.
Still, to love someone and to lie to them is to hate them – especially when that lie inevitably leads to a tragic and hopeless end.”
Someone who lies so easily should probably take more care before making statements about liars.

“All is not well, and you know it.” <- This is by far the worst part of the whole letter, though. How dare anyone tell anyone else what they do and do not know. It is one of the most disrespectful things you can say to someone. If he is really so concerned about reaching people you would think he would have learned how to avoid such offensive phrasing.

    P.S. That gif is fantastic!

Greatest gif ever. And that’s really the most useful thing I can contribute to this discussion. The gif says everything that needs to be said.

You’re concerned about the death of my ‘spirit’ are you? I suppose I am too. That and 5 bucks will get me a cup of coffee.

Also, I didn’t know my emotions stopped working after I admitted I was gay. Friggin’ homophobes.

So-called “homophobia” is not responsible for the fact that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one-in-five “gay” men and adolescents in major cities across America have been infected – through bad behavior – with HIV/AIDS.

Yeah, ’cause homophobic assholes would never spread misinformation about condoms and lobby for abstinence only sex-ed. Fuck off.

You will never fill the void you feel with drugs, alcohol or more sexual acting-out.

I love how despite the topic of the article, the first two on that list are dugs and alcohol. Lol, dude, you are not the smartest.

Your lifestyle – homosexuality – is always and forever, objectively and demonstrably wrong.

“Demonstrably” means “able to be demonstrated.” Actually fucking demonstrate it, you idiot, or shut the hell up.

hmmm, as soon as such an idiot as Barber can show me there is a cliff i might care. But since he can’t, he must shout “there’s a cliff, really for true, my cliff is the real and only one! Really and for true, believe me!” Then, when I have run and run and still have found no cliff, there is the problem of explaining where it is. That’s when the claims of imaginary “spiritual and emotional death” comes out. Ah, now the cliff is invisible but it’s “really” there. The cliff isn’t noticeable at all, but oh it will really “get” you if you dare disbleieve in its existence.

how silly. Mr. Barber, if you don’t believe in Tezcatlipoca you will die a “spiritual and emotional” death! Really really and for true! It wont’ get better if you doubt Tez, it will only get worse. Really it will, evne if you can’t find evidence of that at all! Other Christians say keep running to you! I’m saying “stop”!

As a “non-professional gay” (really?? I can make money off of this gig?? My school career councellors really let me down….) I went over to see what he wanted to say to me.

    Um….no. I can’t even.

At least with asshole non-theists, there’s a slim, sliver of hope that you can talk about evidence and logic and cause and effect and eventually maybe come to a reasonable conclusion.

But with this guy I already know that anything I say is gonna be answered with “BIBLE, DUUUUUUDE!!!”

If I had a time machine, screw Hitler, I’d just go back and make sure a sentence like “Mind your own fucking business” made it through all the edits of certain religious texts.

Always bigots like him think forcing their religion on us is somehow doing us a favor. Meanwhile they screech about “religious freedom”. And somehow they don’t see their own hypocrisy.

The kicker at the end is high-grade Poe material…

Christ alone can fill the void.

    And He will.

I thought this was funny at first, and then I made the mistake of thinking about it and my boyfriend at the same time, and now I’m really angry.

Awesome gif though! Is that available for others to use?

Absolutely I would try to stop a friend jumping off that cliff. Although in fairness, if they really, truly wanted to jump off, and I felt that I had exhausted other options to convince them that they shouldn’t jump, I would actually in the end let them make their own adult decision.

Of course the analogy is crap because being gay is perfectly wonderful and jumping off a cliff will kill you.

I’m so sick of hearing this nonsense about Christians loving people they’ve never even met. I love a small number of people, not every person on the planet. I do have much empathy and compassion for other people (whether I know them or not), which is what I *think* Christians are referring to. Taking the concept of love and redefining it so that it means anything is deeply dumb.
