Religious right using Hobby Lobby to go after teh gay

Judge Alito’s assurance that the Hobby Lobby ruling applies only to closely held corporations and the issue of birth control may soon be put to the test. In fact, the good judge might be proctoring that very exam. In a move everyone with a political pulse saw coming a mile away, wingnuts are not going to let some offhand comment in a nasty SCOTUS decision stop them. First up may be equal rights for teh gay:

TPM — The Associated Press reported this weekend that social conservatives believe they have an opening to bring the state’s religious freedom bill back in 2015. The legislation failed this spring; it passed the House, but stalled in the Senate after significant backlash from business groups. It would have prevented businesses from being sued if they refused to serve LGBT people for religious reasons.

“We are not going to let it die. We are very committed,” Rev. Terry Fox, a leading Southern Baptist minister, told the AP. “The Body of Christ is a powerful movement when it comes together.”

How will the ‘Body of Christ’ determine if a customer is gay and therefore safe to kick out?

What would be fun, in a sad, cynical way, is if that is passed/upheld, and then the gun nuts pass another law saying a business can’t deny serving someone with a gun (Assuming they haven’t already, years of experience tell me without checking they may have). Because then it would be a real hooting and hollering old west showdown in salons across the armed, neo-confederated heartland. Gun lover vs gay hater. Hard core Ammosexuals vs extremist Hompohobes.

OK, that’s a reality TV show idea right there. Or a real mass shooting about to happen.

    A blatant lie.

    There is no such thing as The Body of Christ. Xianity is split into 42,000 sects, who don’t much like each other or agree on anything.

    In fact, most of the people opposing the Supreme court’s War on Birth Control ruling were…xians.

    The Body of Christ is an extremely bland cracker unless my memory of taking communion is wrong.

    Rev. Fox forgot a word between powerful and movement “bowel”

    What happens when a heterosexual person sues them for failing to provide service because they thought they were gay?

    @4;
    That is the beauty of the supreme court ruling. They said it didn’t matter that Hobby Lobby was factually wrong about birth control pills causing abortion. Just their belief was enough to grant them a religious exemption. So in your example, it doesn’t matter if a person is actually gay or straight; if a religious business owner refuses service to anyone they think is gay, by the supreme court logic, they would be immune to a lawsuit from a heterosexual person.
