This week in E. W. Jackson

Ahh, EW. I swear, one of these days you’re gonna take off a prosthetic mask and reveal Jon Stewart cackling underneath. This week the former pastor turned neoconfederate apologist clumsily tried to turn the tables on the Republican War on Women with this howler:

BuzzFeed — In an email fundraising pitch, Jackson says his Democratic opponent Ralph Northam is “running on divisive social issues” and that he “wants to prevent women from having safer access to health care by relaxing safety standards on abortion clinics!” “With an extremist focus like this — how can we trust Ralph Northam to be Lieutenant Governor,” Jackson writes.

Jackson told reporters in May at a campaign stop in Fredricksburg, responding to past controversial comments on gays, “I say the things that I say because I’m a Christian, not because I hate anybody, but because I have religious values that matter to me.”

I know you are but what am I? Oh, and it’s not that he hates gays and family planning, it’s that his religion demands he hates gays and family planning. Do You Not See the Difference?
