OK Sen Inhofe chimes in on disaster spending for his state

Senator James Inhofe (R-corrupt) of Oklahoma distinguishes between disaster aid for Hurricane Sandy and his own state devastated by tornadoes:

Maddow Blog — We talked earlier about Oklahoma’s junior senator, Republican Tom Coburn (R), announcing last night that he will only support federal disaster relief — for his own constituents — if it’s financed by comparable spending cuts elsewhere. But what about Oklahoma’s senior senator?

Republican Sen. James Inhofe, like Coburn, has opposed emergency aid in the recent past, including voting against a relief package for victims of Hurricane Sandy. This morning, however, the conservative senator said that was “totally different.”

I guess garden variety hypocrisy is a step up the decency ladder from fellow OK Sen Tom Coburn. There is indeed a difference between these two: Coburn is retiring in 2014 2016 and is clearly more concerned with auditioning for his next, far more lucrative job with a Kochwhore think-tank or K-street shop. Inhofe is up for reelection in the 2014 midterm and has probably not decided, yet, if he wants to cash in at that time.

That would be 2016 for Coburn, who was re-elected in 2010.

Off-topic but really annoying: The video on your initial tornado post autoplays. Commercials. It’s infuriating. Please fix.
