When I was a little boy I always took comfort in the notion that when I grew up not only would I be smarter and more capable but so would everyone else. The net effect would be a fundamentally better world.

Yes,.. when I was in my early youth, this science-head used to think,..to daydream… much the same thing. And like you (as I went through my twenties, thirties, forties) I came to find out that I was sadly mistaken–and I know I’ll see it get worse before it gets better… if ever.
