   I suspect the USA has had a few (privately) atheist presidents already and just doesn’t realise it yet.

   The current one quite probably even. Wonder if Obama will come out as at least agnostic in his second term presuming he gets it or afterwards if he loses this year.

   Meanwhile Australia has had openly atheist female prime Minister (our highest political office ignoring the figurehead Governor General and Queen of England) since 2010. Sadly Julia Gillard whilst veryimpressive in alot of ways and on some issues (eg. carbon price, education, economonics) has been very much a let down and disappointment in other (eg. equal marriage, refugees, school chaplains) areas.
