    If we are going to be linking in music videos, then we must of course include The Transit of Venus March by John Philip Sousa. The Wikipedia article says that it was written to commemorate the 1882 transit, ended up getting lost for more than a century, then was rediscovered in time for the 2004 transit.

    For many years I had a transit photo as my screen saver. It was that photo that put into perspective how really big the sun is. The sun, …, is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mindboggingly big it is. I mean you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to the sun.
