Evolution marches on, and sometimes its adorable

Well, maybe not evolution per se, but the stuff of evolution, i.e., genetic diversity manifested as morphological¬†variance, and this is a pretty cute example if indeed it’s a product of heritable¬†genotype. Click image for the skinny on this adorable little guy from Nat’l Geo.

I was about to whine about this not showing evolution, then re-read your post and caught the “stuff of evolution” part. Absolutely correct. What would really be interesting would be a whole population of these having had breeding success in response to some external factor. That would be evolution in action!

Can’t argue with cute, of course!

“That’s just microevolution! They’re still penguins! Show me a fish growing feathers and learning to fly and maybe I’ll start to think about your fairy tale of common descent!”

I tried arguing with creationists for a while shortly after my own conversion from subversion, but eventually gave up. Is there anything you can say to people who simply aren’t interested in even understanding your arguments?
