Just thought you might find this interesting:
BAGRAM, Afghanistan — Word that NATO personnel had burned an undisclosed number of Korans and were preparing to dispose of many more by incineration set off an angry protest here on Tuesday. NATO officials rushed to apologize publicly and profusely, trying to head off what they feared could be a nationwide outburst of violence as news of the burning was gradually broadcast across the country.

I don’t quite know how to feel when I read something like this. Every action of every individual in the entire story makes me want to facepalm.
Actually what had me shaking my head was *why* they were burning them at all. According to the article they were being burned because the detainees had been writing in them. Presumably messages between themselves.
Then I guess that the books weren’t that sacred after all.

Re.: BURNING KORANS
Our military history as well as that of the State Dept. & businesses that export
, cars, for example…
is replete with example of Goofs made
because of a lack of knowledge about the ways of other cultures,so a BAD for our military’s ignorance.
But I am nagged by a
feeling that the Koran burning may have
been more of military
fundamentalist christian BAD rather than ignorance BAD.
According to the BBC, at least six Afghans have died already in the consequent riots.
they should burn copies of Farenheit 451 and watch more T.V.
“at least six Afghans have died already in the consequent riots”
It does seem that every time someone does something that pisses of Muslims they end up killing each other.
Those hillbillies don’t give a damn about a few burnt Korans – that’s just their excuse to get out on the street and make somebody else’s life as miserable as their own.
