He says “abomination” I hear “absolute success”

Muahahahahahahahahahahaha!

A guy in a Jesus hat and waving a bible just interrupted Greg Epstein’s talk by shouting that this is an abomination and that Jesus loves us.  I’m jealous!  Skepticon has never had anything like that.

The rest of his yelling was lost beneath a harmony of applause, laughter, and snickering.  Everybody bound together.  That’s the kind of community I can get behind.

I bet he was wearing mixed-fiber clothing and had bacon with breakfast.

Jesus hat? What would that be, a crown of thorns?
And I thought “hat hair” was a problem.

  3. What is a Jesus hat? Is that anything like a bishop’s mitre, which represents the open mouth of the fish-god Dagon in *traditional* religious ceremonies?

He was waiting outside the hall at the bottom of the stairs as well. People kept stopping, too. I’m not sure if it’s worth it to give people so convinced of this mindset the attention they are desperately looking for.

He made small talk with me about the weather in passing, but kept the crazy to himself. Fortunately.

I want to see a Jesus hat. As in a hat shaped like Jesus. Preferably from the neck up, but waist up would work, too.

If it could shout things, like Luna’s Gryffindor hat, that would be cool.

That’d be amazing – especially if it was modelled on the buddy christ from Dogma. Animatronic mouth, waggling eyebrows a la Groucho Marx…
Oh, and can we get it to morph into an arse whenever the wearer mentions anything religious?

      THAT I’d like to see!

I was there for that! It was kind of amazing. And unusual for Kansas, at least in my experience.

My first skeptic/atheist meetup, and crazy makes an appearance. I feel so lucky!

I’m the 6’4″ tall woman. You can’t miss seeing me. =)

Greg Epstein’s book, “Good Without God” gave me the voice to my inner Humanist voice. I have never really believed in any god, though I liked the idea of Loki the Trickster for a while. But, knowing that I am not as alone in the middle of LDS-Mesa, AZ as I thought, is extremely comforting, and I have become very vocal in my Humanist Non-belief. It is very liberating. Glad that so many Non-believers are in Kansas to give the bible-thumping Christian the “welcome” he should have expected.
    :-D

They were almost strutting and seemed very self-assured that they had won the debates.
Did anyone get the church/organization they were with?

Isn’t it a bit crazy to go int a building full of atheists and cry out about abomination? What if Bible God notices all those sinners at just that moment and lightning bolts the building?
