This was from information collected in a 2010 Gallup Poll:
“Americans are overwhelmingly sure there’s a God who answers prayers.
This fits with most Americans’ views: 92% say there is a God and 83% say this God answers prayers, according to a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.”
That’s very fascinating. Apparently if the majority wanted to jail Christians, legal_eagle would be all about it. Who cares about justice for all, eh? It’s all about the majority. We had the same problem with those uppity racial minorities in the 1960s.
Belief in God in our country is going strong and you’re not going to obliterate it no matter what you do.
Belief in god is waning fast in this country. We may not obliterate it, but we’re going to keep moving it into irrelevance.

Just pointing out, you’re missing a really important aspect of this. Is our avian friend here suggesting that no Christians prayed for God to reverse time and make this a Christian nation? Or that while most Americans believe there’s a god that answers prayers, it apparently didn’t answer them this time around?
Smoking really looked like it was going strong in the 60s.
Maybe in another 50 years, faith will be in the same boat cigarettes are now. I’m hoping, at least.

Pathetic little creatures. They really don’t understand the separation of church and state, do they? Guess a rather large group of people systematically slept through the same lesson in their high school history/civics class. Or, you know, ignorance on this matter is the equivalent to creationism in regards to government/legal matters.
I’m even more amused that their all powerful god who wants school prayer couldn’t stand up to ACLU legal arguments. FSM preserve me in your saucy embrace, those ACLU lawyers are good!

If god was going to be a Batman villain, I think the Joker would be more entertaining.
To make a more exacting distinction, religiosity is waning fast in the US; see GSS data, RELITEN (which I usually recode to put “Somewhat” in between “Not Very” and “Strong”) against COHORT (which I usually recode by decade) or YEAR. Berkeley’s SDA archive has a convenient interface.
However, belief in God looks to be waning much more slowly; similarly again, GSS for GOD agains COHORT or YEAR. Also, most of this trend appears to be from the rise of the number of irreligious “Nones”; and within the “Nones”, whether over the last two decades or across cohorts (aggregating those two decades the question was asked), the trend on belief in God seems pretty flat so far as the modest N values hint at the shape.
Anyone see a missing “t” lying about? FTB probably isn’t the best place to drop one on the floor….
