Religion is like a bad virus!

Richard Dawkins wrote about sexual apartheid in UCL.

When he got to the meeting he discovered that actually the seating in the auditorium was indeed segregated by sex. There was a men’s section, a women’s section, and a “couples” section. Did the “couples” have to produce a marriage certificate, one can’t help wondering? And, while wondering such things, what would have been the reaction of the audience if they had been segregated, as in apartheid South Africa, into a black section, a white section and a “coloureds” section?

It was actually like Saudi Arabia, the audience was segregated into a men section and a women section. Lawrence Krauss took a good decision to leave. He should have refused to return to that auditorium of gender segregation.

University College, London is celebrated as an early haven of enlightened free thinking, the first university college in England to have a secular foundation, and the first to admit men and women on equal terms.

It is so sad to see that Islamization is not limited to Muslim majority countries, or Islamic republics –the vultures are spreading wings–Western secular countries are now targets. But not in the allies, or mosques, or Muslim neighbourhood, it is in the places of enlightenment, the places that educate students about the equal rights of women, and encourage them to fight against misogyny, sexual apartheid or gender segregation.

Richard Dawkins asked a very important question:

Isn’t it really about time we decent, nice, liberal people stopped being so pusillanimously terrified of being thought “Islamophobic” and stood up for decent, nice, liberal values?

Yes, it is time to revolt or it will be too late. We decent, nice, liberal people do not want to see that UK is having sharia laws, girls get whipped in public for wearing trousers, people get beheaded in car park, women get stoned to death in the middle of the Hyde Park.

Worshiping Lord’s Phallus!

shiva

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Parvati worshipping Shiva’s linga or Shiva’s phallus.

It is believed that the linga of Shiva, cursed by the sages, fell on the earth and burnt everything before it like fire. Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva, took the form of a yoni or vagina and calmed it by holding the linga in her yoni.’
Shivalinga

According to the Hindu mythology:
‘During the great mythical churning of the ocean called Samudra Manthan, a pot of poison emerged from the ocean. The gods and the demons were terrified as it could destroy the entire world. When they ran to Shiva for help, he in order to protect the world, drank the deadly poison but held it in his throat instead of swallowing it. This turned his throat blue, and since then he came to be known as ‘Nilkantha’, the blue-throated one.’

The phallus symbol representing Shiva is called the lingam. It is usually made of granite, soapstone, quartz, marble or metal, and has a ‘yoni’ or vagina as its base representing the union of organs. Devotees circumambulate the lingam and worship it throughout the night. It is bathed every three hours with the 5 sacred offerings of a cow, called the ‘panchagavya’ – milk, sour milk, cow dung, cow urine, butter. Then the 5 foods of immortality – milk, clarified butter, curd, honey and sugar are placed before the lingam. Datura fruit and flower, though poisonous, are believed to be sacred to Shiva and thus offered to him.

Maha Shiva ratri is going to be celebrated tonight.

All through the day the devotees keep severe fast, chant the sacred Panchakshara mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”, make offerings of flowers and incense to the Lord amidst ringing of temple bells. They maintain long vigils during the night, keeping awake to listen to stories, hymns and songs. The fast is broken only the next morning, after the nightlong worship.

Shivratri is considered especially auspicious for women. Married women pray for the well being of their husbands and sons, while unmarried women pray for an ideal husband like Shiva, who is the spouse of Kali, Parvati and Durga.

Yoni Altar

Hindus not only worship penises, they worship vaginas too.
The erotic parts of Hindu mythology are fascinating but the truth is, like other religions, Hinduism is also a highly patriarchal religion. There are many rituals for women to pray for the well-being of their husbands and sons but there is no ritual for men to pray for the well-being of their wives and daughters.

‘Cardinal Sin’

After Pope’s mysterious resignation, Candinal O’Brien resigned and acknowledged having engaged in unspecified sexual misbehavior and promised to play “no further part” in the public life of the church. Isn’t it cool? Now, more cardinals, bishops, archbishops, deacons, priests should resign for their lies and crimes. Time for catholicism to become extinct.

The Cardinal regrets for having sexual relationships. I regret for not having enough sexual relationships. I envy him. It’s alright if he had consensual sex. But I wonder, did he fuck little children? Then he should go fuck himself now.

He condemned homosexuality as immoral, opposed gay adoption and argued that ‘same-sex marriages are harmful to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of those involved’. Oh My Goosebumps! He was a hypocrite!

Most of the people involved in god’s business are hypocrites. I sometimes think priests, imams, rabbis do not believe that god exists. But they make people fool. It’s their job. They are just hypocrite atheists!

Don’t force children to be religious.

Let your children enjoy their childhood. Don’t force them to believe in your religion. Let them choose for themselves when they become 18. Don’t label them Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu etc. They deserve to have their rights and freedom.

Pope Must Go

Michael Nugent found ten reasons to be pleased that Pope Benedict is resigning. He explained elaborately the ten reasons he gave.

1.He has international political influence through the Vatican
2.His Vatican works with Islamic States to oppose gay rights
3.He blames atheism for Nazi Germany and lack of virtue
4.His Catholic Church claims that atheists are not fully human
5.He protects the Vatican ahead of child sex abuse victims
6.He blames secularisation for priests raping children
7.His Vatican compares child sex abuse with ordaining women
8.He offered free plenary indulgences to Lourdes pilgrims
9.He is skeptical that there were donkeys in the crib
10.He silences priests who want a more democratic church

With or without Islamic States the Vatican is against gay rights, because the bible is against gay rights. He blames atheism for Nazi Germany because he is ignorant like many people in the world who believe Hitler was an atheist and he killed Jews in the name of atheism. I can well understand why his Catholic Church claims that atheists are not fully human, because God hates atheists and Church based of myths and hypocrisies is threatened by no one but atheists. The biggest crime the Pope committed by protecting Vatican ahead of child sex abuse victims. He blames secularization for priests raping children. He has to, because priests must to be saved. They are authorized to perform the sacred rites of religion especially as a mediatory agent between humans and God. Whatever they do, rape or murder, they must be saved in order to save God’s ass. He silences priests who want a more democratic church, he does it because he knows religion is not compatible with democracy. If religion evolves or if it supports democracy, human rights, and equal rights between men and women, it will not be religion anymore. Religion’s purpose is to keep people in the darkness of ignorance, promote injustices and inequalities. Religion doesn’t evolve, people evolve. We do not have to force it to evolve or pretend that it evolved. We enlightened evolved people need to reject religion to make the world a better place.

30 million took holy dip. 30 died.

30 people were killed in a stampede at Kumbh, the Hindu religious festival.

30 million Hindus took dip at the confluence of Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical as well as invisible Saraswati believing to have their sins washed away. More than 30 people died in a stampede at Kumbh. God should have saved the lives of devotees. Some children died too. Why did God kill them?

Many people die in stampedes at Kumbh and Hajj.

I am so lucky! I do not need to go to kaba or Kumbh, because I do not commit sins.

Kumbh_holy_dip_600

The more sins you commit, the more your fears grow.

Hindus believe some rivers in India are holy, even though those rivers are dangerously polluted. Many famous artists, writers, film makers, filthy rich were at Kumbh today. They believe their sins will be washed away if they immerse themselves in those so called holy rivers. Kumbh is like Kaba, Muslims believe if their perform hajj by orbiting kaba, all their sins will be forgiven.

If most people in the world were sane, religion would have been dead long ago.

How the extremists won

I have known Kolkata since my childhood, through children’s books and stories my parents told me. I came to know it better during my youth, when I finished reading the works of as many superb Bengali writers and poets as I could gather, and also when I published the poems of many contemporary Bengali poets from the East as well as the West while editing and publishing my poetry magazine since 1978. I remember, I visited Kolkata for the first time in the late ‘80s and it was like a dream. I felt I knew and loved Kolkata more than many native Kolkatans. In the early ‘90s, I was the first writer from Bangladesh to receive West Bengal’s most prestigious literary award, the Ananda Puroshkar. Since then I have felt closely related to Kolkata. I got the opportunity to personally meet and come close to many authors and intellectuals whom I held in great regard. I was fortunate to receive their love, sympathy and solidarity. Annada Shankar Ray, Shib Narayan Ray, and Amlan Dutta were the true secular humanist intellectuals in Kolkata.

Something else happened in the early ‘90s, too; I was forced to leave my beloved country and live in exile. I could not accept the idea that a Bengali writer had to leave Bengal simply because some ignorant, insane persons did not like my writings, and therefore, I made several attempts to return to my country, or at least, to West Bengal, which shares a common history and traditions with my country. Sadly, each time, I failed miserably, which left me no alternative but to stay in Europe or America. But whenever India gave me permission to enter, I did not waste a moment; I rushed to Kolkata and met all my friends there: a homeless felt at home, for the first time, while living in exile. I tried a lot and eventually got a Residence Permit to reside in India. No more a constrained tourist, I was a resident in this great country, and I thought that my travails were over. I received my second prestigious literary award for the first part of my memoir, titled My Girlhood (amar meyebela). But, there was to be no respite for me; just a few years thereafter, the West Bengal government banned Dwikhandito, the third part of my memoir. I personally knew Buddhadev Bhattacharyya, then the Chief Minister of West Bengal under the Left Front government. He was initially very friendly towards me, and that is partly why it was so shocking to me that he had banned my book, which was about my struggle opposing religious fanatics. Upon being asked, Mr. Bhattacharyya declared that as many as 25 intellectuals had asked him to ban my book.

But that was not the end of it. What I didn’t realize in my shock and grief was that this information, involving a few authors in Bangladesh, was a secret and not supposed to come out. The late Sunil Gangopadhaya, an accomplished writer and close friend of Mr. Bhattacharya, was the most displeased and excoriated me, saying that it was very bad form to disclose the things that happened behind the closed door between two people. Anyway, I didn’t think that the book was banned because I honestly told my life stories; some other reasons must have been given to justify banning the book. Then I found out that it was banned on the charges of ‘hurting religious feelings of Muslims’. Now Muslims got to know that a book was written by an author named Taslima Nasreen who hurt Muslim religious feelings. That was when Kolkata began to change. When the government bans your book, the fundamentalists are encouraged and enthused; they are inspired to find you a soft target. They feel the government will side with them. The Islamic fundamentalists started issuing fatwas against me; they set prices on my head. It happened in Kolkata first, and other cities followed suit.

Yes, other cities must have been inspired by Kolkata fatwa; I was physically attacked by Islamic fundamentalists in Hyderabad. The fundamentalists won’t dare touch a writer if they are not convinced they will go scot-free after such acts. To be honest, it was the politicians of the Indian subcontinent who had labeled me ‘anti-Islam’ by referring to my books as ‘controversial’ and banning them. Suddenly, everyone was concerned about the ‘feelings’ of the fundamentalists. I was a lone exiled writer, not a member of any political party or any large organization; I became an easy target of the fanatics, as well as of the governments of two countries. The West Bengal government used me for diverting the attention from the political fallouts of their dastardly actions in Nandigram and Singur, and then decided to throw me out of the state, eventually out of the country. Fanatics and fundamentalists, amongst the Muslim folks who took to the streets to protest against the killing of Muslims in Nandigram and Singur by the goons of the ruling communist party, had held up a piece of paper that said, “Taslima, go back.” This demand by the Islamic fundamentalists to deport Taslima was fulfilled with alacrity by the West Bengal government; the officials had started asking me to leave West Bengal since August, and they were desperate to make it happen by the end of November. They did get their wish: the attention of people was diverted for a few days. Ultimately, however, the CPIM could not win the election, but they did successfully send a signal to the Muslim fanatics that they managed to throw an ‘anti-Islam’ apostate like me out of their precious state.

The CPIM party used me in order to secure the Muslim votes during the past election; the Muslim fanatics used me in order to demonstrate the strength of fundamentalist faith even in a supposedly secular country. Ms. Mamata Banerjee, the current Chief Minister of West Bengal under the Trinamool Congress government, is inexplicably walking the same path as did her predecessors, the CPIM. She might oppose everything that CPIM did in this state, but agreed on one idea – that Taslima must not be allowed into West Bengal. Because both political parties do the exact same thing, that is, appease the Muslim fanatics, in order to retain their votes. Salman Rushdie was not allowed to reach West Bengal. The current West Bengal government prevented his entry into Kolkata. The Left Front parties, currently sitting in the Opposition, do not object to this decision of the government. How can they? Because what Ms. Banerjee is doing with me and Rushdie is not at all different from what they did with me just a little while ago.

I am thankful for the fact that India, as a country, has shown a degree of commendable religious tolerance in my case; I have at least been allowed to live here. Had it been Bangladesh or Pakistan, I would have been most likely dead by now. At the same time, I do believe that had my book not been banned in 2003, I would not have been thrown out of Kolkata in 2007; had I not been thrown out of Kolkata, Rushdie could have gone on to visit Kolkata, this wonderful city of intellectuals with a rich literary history. The sad fact of life is that once a government bows down to the fanatics, the fanatics are immeasurably encouraged and emboldened – and the trend is set.

Muslim priests rape children.

An Imam and his friends gang raped a girl in Narshingdi, Bangladesh just two days ago. It is quite common that Imams or Muslims priests rape. For rape, they prefer children to grown-ups. I do not understand why people who believe in Islam get angry with Imams for raping girls. Imams believe in Islamic laws more than their country’s civil laws. Islam doesn’t advise men not to have sex with children. Prophet Muhammad himself married a 6-year-old child. The marriage was consummated when 6-year-old child turned 9-year-old. We have created a law that says sex with children, with or without consent, is rape, and rape is punishable by law. But Allah’s laws are different from the laws of the civilized countries that care about women’s rights, human rights, children’s rights. [Read more…]
