The holy virus

A new SARS-like virus is as mysterious as Allah. The virus is definitely a holy virus, as it appeared in Saudi Arabia, Allah’s own land, the holy land. Allah made His messenger born in the holy land. He also advised everyone to recite the Quran, His own holy book in nothing but Arabic, the holy language.
The scientists now are saying that the virus in the holy land has come from holy bats, holy camels and holy goats. [Read more…]

God’s soldiers!

Unfortunately, the films critical of Islam are by the people who do not know how to make films, and they are often extreme-right-wing-anti-Islam or just anti-Islam-Christian-fanatics. Submission by Theo Van Gogh, Fitna by Geert Wilders and Innocence of Muslims by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. All these films are bad-taste-low-standard-films. Some film-makers dance with all-religions-are-good-only-Islam-is-bad song. Good films but very critical of Islam could have been made by creative, visionary, talented film-makers who have rational logical mind and scientific outlook. Unfortunately not a single good film based on authentic Islamic history has ever been made. I have been waiting for decades to watch an Islamic version of ‘Life of Brian.’ Where are our Pythons?

Islamists are bad, film makers are also bad. Islamists say they do not want freedom, they want Islam. But they want freedom to destroy and burn down everything. They believe they are allowed to commit barbaric acts in the name of their imaginary god.

Bad film-makers have the right to make bad films. But no one has the right to take away the life or property of another. God’s law forgives god’s soldiers, but our law must not.

We do not need a male to get pregnant.

Virgin Mary story is a myth. But virgin-snake-mom story is real. Pit vipers reproduced without a male.

We know that only captive species can reproduce. The process is called facultative Parthenogenesis. Parthenogenesis is a process in which the females produce eggs that can develop without fertilization. Recently captive domestic chicken, pythons, sharks, komodo dragons, lizards, and birds reproduced with no sex involved. It can happen in aphids, bees and ants. It is extremely rare that a normally sexual vertebrate reproduce asexually. Now that virgin births have been discovered in wild vertebrates, we can assume reproducing without the need for a male may not be so rare in the animal kingdom. Offspring only have their mother’s genetic material; no male contribution is required. It is amazing to see sexual vertebrates switched from sexual to asexual reproduction.

Kaguya the mouse does not have a father. Kaguya has two parents of the same sex. Cells were used from two different female mice and combined them to make a single unique animal, there was no problem of genomic imprinting. Not only a mouse, a female shark got pregnant on her own, no male was required.

Humans are mammals and sexual vertebrates. Will human females be able to reproduce with no male or no sex? Parthenogenetic reproduction can happen in human females. But do we have to produce only females because we do not have Y choromosome? Not necessarily if someone is a genetic mosaic whose body is built of a mixture of cells of two or more different genotypes! Yes, then we may even reproduce a male without a male.

100 most endangered species!

Scientists fear 100 most endangered species they listed at the World Conservation Congress in South Korea will be allowed to die out because they have no obvious benefits for human beings. The population of many endangered species is less than 100. Some of the species population is just 10 or less than 10. We humans are one of the reasons behind their disappearance. Our hunting. agriculture expansion, over-fishing, deforestation, urbanization etc. forced many species to say goodbye forever.

We should not let them die out.

9/11 and Muslims!

Tahir Aslam Gora, a Pakistani free thinker experienced everything I experienced. Many Muslims believe 9/11 has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims. They still like to believe a bunch of bizarre conspiracy theories.

It’s said that a majority of Muslims have been hijacked by a tiny percentage of Islamic extremists. But it’s also true that many Muslims consider the incidents of September 11, 2001, to have been staged by the Bush administration, the CIA, Jews, etc.

The question arises as to why a majority of Muslims would assume that nothing bad could be delivered by Muslims? And why have many Muslims related all bad things to the United States, other western countries and Israel?

Some of the answers by many Muslims to such questions:

The West and Israel did it to undermine the name of Islam
Muslims are not that high tech that they could have created such a catastrophe
The Bush administration did so to gain more control over Middle East resources, etc.

In order to justify such answers, they present Michael Moore’s or Robert Fisk’s conspiracy theories, or Noam Chomsky’s political philosophies.

Islamic extremists are the true Muslims, they strictly follow Islamic rules. Majority Muslims would have organized a mass movement against Islamists if they did not sympathize with them.

Religion stops a thinking mind. Without having a thinking mind, you can’t go beyond the conspiracy theories. Without a thinking mind, you justify all the violence against humanity in the name of something nonsense.

Illiterate Muslims get easily influenced by the Islamic extremists, but the literate Muslims get influenced by the leftist intellectuals who are the biggest apologists for political Islam.

The notion of majority Muslims being silent is difficult to grasp. They are, in fact, quite vocal, just not very clear. And if they are hijacked or distracted by the tiny extremist class, why is it so? Why are they so helpless in raising their voices? Do they even have their own voices? It doesn’t seem so, since they are distracted by that small percentage of Islamic extremists. There is a fear that Islamist points of view on various issues are close to their hearts.

Today on the eve of 11th anniversary of 911, someone from the same “silent majority” has written on Facebook, “Happy 11th anniversary of 9/11 attacks everyone… may Allah swt bring many more attacks on those coward terrorist American kuffar and other kuffar and their lapdog apostate allies around the world. May Allah swt help the Muslims, release our Prisoners… and give us victory. Ameen.”

This is not a good sign for this so-called silent majority. The silent majority is not supposed to be on the side of such hostile and violent views. It doesn’t matter if they agree with the West on each and every issue. What matters is they need to clear their thinking and rid their minds of conventional rivalry plans with the rest of the world.

I witnessed how Muslims in Bangladesh changed. In 60’s and 70’s, Muslims were secular and socialists. In 80’s, they started becoming conservative and religious because of the Islamization of the country. In 90’s, Islamists were given the power by military rulers. After 9/11, majority Muslims have become Islamists, they may not wear a beard or pray five times a day.
Some other Muslim countries, I believe, went through the similar going down process.

I will never visit the Aokigahara forest

I visit religious building if they have nice architecture. Even I do not mind to visit cemetery like Pere Lachaise. That is also for art and architecture.
I do not visit catacombs anymore. Out of curiosity I visited a couple of catacombs. I have stopped visiting catacombs a long time ago. I have never visited Aokigahara forest in Japan. I will never do. Life is too short to waste time visiting death and depression.

People say that it is the second most popular place for suicides in the world after San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. About 100 suicides occur every year. People also say that the Aokigahara forest has became the popular place for suicides after the novel Nami no Tō (波の塔?) or “Tower of Waves” written by Seichō Matsumoto was published in 1960. In this novel, lovers commit suicide in the forest. But the Aokigahara forest was used for suicides long before the novel was published. Ubasute was practiced by poor Japanese. They used to leave their elderly relatives to the Aokigahara forest to die. During the drought and famine, ubasute was widely practiced. Remember The Ballad of Narayama! According to tradition, once a person reaches the age of 70, he or she must travel to a remote mountain to die of starvation. The Ballad of Narayama reminds me of Bengali Hindu widows! Family members send them to Varanasi, a holy place to die.

Suicide in the Aokigahara forest reminds me of farmers’ suicide in India. Indian farmers started committing mass suicide in 1990’s. More than 17,500 farmers killed themselves every year from 2002 to 2006. 16,196 farmers committed suicide in 2008. Since 1997, much more than 200,000 farmers committed suicide. The reasons of farmers’ suicide: ‘debt, the difficulty of farming semi-arid regions, poor agricultural income, absence of alternative income opportunities, the downturn in the urban economy forcing non-farmers into farming, and the absence of suitable counseling services.’

Whatever the reason is, I believe, suicide can be contagious.
