Purinton Told the Bartender he Believed the Men he Shot Were Middle Eastern

The FBI and the US attorney’s office have also joined the investigation as authorities work to determine if it was a hate crime.

How can it be a hate crime? The shooter was white! It will probably take the entire US attorney’s office and the FBI to conclude that russians were behind it, therefore it was not a hate crime. [buzzfeed]  Besides, it’s not like he was hating on them, he was just shooting at them while telling them “Get out of my country.”

The two men initially shot were not Middle Eastern. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was killed, was originally from India and had received a master’s degree at the University of Texas. He and Alok Madasani, who was injured, worked in the aviation systems division at GPS-navigation maker Garmin, which has a facility in Olathe.

I guess we all ought to spray-tan ourselves orange, so we won’t be mistaken for middle easterners.

On Thursday, representatives of the FBI and US Attorney’s Office — which handle crimes related to civil rights — joined local officials at a press conference. The investigation is in its early stages, but federal authorities are actively working with local police, special agent in charge Eric Jackson said.

“If this violent crime is determined to be biased-motivated, we will continue to conduct this investigation jointly,” he said.

They make ’em smart at FBI school.

o tempora! Shit, it’s neuter. Nobody saw that, did they?
Good, but bloody hell, this is the expected outcome of the Orange ones marginalization of all those who aren’t ‘murican as incest and apple pie.

  2. Brian English says

Probably giving the Orange one too much credit. He’s just weaponized, or perfected the background racism that is in his society for personal gain. Like most politicians, divide and conquer.

So the sociopolitical message being received is that stochastic terrorism is patriotic and may be tacitly condoned subject to sufficient “plausible” deniability.

Sorry Brian, the eye of the Classics teacher sees all when it comes to misquotes of Cicero…

Interestingly enough the speech that the famous “O tempora, o mores!” line comes from is the first oration against Verres. The main complaint Cicero pushes against Verres’ corrupt governorship in Sicily, that justifies his condemnation of the times he lives in, is that Verres had no respect for the institution of Roman citizenship and crucified citizens as well as non-citizens in his excesses. His most prominent victim was supposed to have repeatedly shouted “civis Romanus sum!” (I am a Roman citizen!) to defend himself, but his cries were ignored.

One wonders quite how effective cries of “I am an American citizen” are going to be against the excesses of the modern-day Gaius Verres and his cronies…

I can’t help thinking about this post of Shiv’s – that’d be a good title for it. Basically, “hey, I’m a citizen and I’m rich how can you legislate against me like you pretty much guaranteed you would!?!?”

“They all look the same to me.”

Bingo. I doubt that he cares about any of this, they’re just winning moves in the reality TV game show that’s always going on in his head.

    @ 6 cartomancer

Thanks, I had always thought it was “O tempores” and had no idea of the source.

Interestingly does not the Civis Romanus sum somewhat parallel the US drone policy where no American seems upset at any deaths until it is the death of an American citizen?

  10. Brian English says

Civis, not Cives. Citizen not Citizens! I’ll can feel the admonishment of the classics teacher. In my favour, I’m an autodidactic bogan. Well, that’s not really anything in my favour. Look! A distraction! (runs away…)
