Forgive me, but I don’t get it. I’ve googled who Roxane Gay is (feminist writer and academic), and I’ve googled April the 15th, but I can’t work out what happens on that day that is being discussed here.

April 15 is the due date for filing your income tax forms here in the USA.

Gay is being a little glib, because the US government doesn’t actually insist that you be an American to pay taxes. They’ll take money from pretty much anyone. Still, it’s a witty remark!

A certain other real estate asshole did allegedly say: “We don’t pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes”

Would she had gotten jail time for failing to feed the Tax Bear* according to the rules in 2017?

    __
    * = In Finland the Tax Administration (which collects national, municipal and church taxes) is often called verokarhu (tax bear).

Oh, Leona. Who can forget the queen of cruel? She wouldn’t have gotten nailed at all if she’d had the wits to keep her mouth shut. She embarrassed the hell outta the IRS, so they had to do something. That said, she was right, rich people don’t pay taxes. At least the smarter ones don’t, and the stupider ones pay smart people for that kind of thing.
