If he had been black, the outcome would likely have been different.

I get the sense that the cops get the sense that they’re being ‘watched’…It’s nice to see that this ‘understanding/ acknowledgement’ seems to have affected their reaction/behavior….Is it OK to give an h/t to the cops for not doubling down? I mean, I KNOW they shouldn’t get a cookie for this, but is it still OK to give them a cookie? I HONESTLY DON’T KNOW!

I admire this guy’s spirit. The police don’t always beat you or arrest you for telling them to fuck off but like an angry dog, it’s best not to antagonize them. Simply refusing an unlawful search is a firm way is this better approach.
The guy is black, BTW, and white people do get illegally stopped, searched, beaten and killed by the cops. in fact whites are the majority of victims of police brutality.
Though probably unlikely, do this to the wrong cop, on the wrong day and you may end up dead (but very right in exercising your constitutional rights). There’s no reason why this same message cannot be delivered firmly, yet politely.
Even then, there’s no guarantee that you won’t run into the one cop who has it in for you that particular day. Even so, it is better to be in a situation where you are still alive to fight for your rights after they have been violated.

I was wrong, but the speaker’s voice is so briefly heard it’s easy to mistake him for white.
Especially the fact that he’s not dead or beaten up.
