The mayor and the gang signs

The reports of abuse by police departments all over the country have been gaining increased attention and drawing much needed attention to the need for elected officials to exert greater control over them. Not every one does, with many preferring to turn a blind eye. And when they do something, even to the mere extent of speaking out against police abuses, the police can retaliate against them using their allies in the media, as the mayor of Minneapolis found out.

Well, we certainly don’t want our political leaders posing with known criminals, do we?

The media condemned the absurdity of this politically-motivated attack, but no one questioned why Mr Gordon is denied the right to vote due to having committed a crime. I could find no mention anywhere what that alleged crime was.

Is it just that someone who has committed a crime in his youth be denied the right to vote (is this for life?), when the political leaders he has to vote for commit worse crimes on a daily basis?

Shame that politicians serve only their needs and not the need of the public. Here, the politicians are the cops.

And the toaster-heads in the press are quite willing to play the inquisitor but only to those no power or who dare question the cops. Kiss up to the cops, kick down on the powerless.
