The Colbert Report takes a look at my district

In his ongoing series interviewing congressional representatives from each of the districts, Stephen Colbert spoke with Marcia Fudge of Ohio’s 11th district which happens to be the one in which I live so it was particularly fun to for me to watch. Colbert made the obligatory jokes disparaging Cleveland such as the river catching fire but that was to be expected.

    Mano,

This is the first time I have ever stopped watching a Colbert piece. Maybe I was offended because I’m from Cleveland. Maybe because I just didn’t find the humor funny. Nobody bats 1.000 and I’ll mark this one down as a whiff for Colbert.

Some of that was painful, and I’m not from the area. The bits which were over the top served to highlight Representative Marcia Fudge’s sense of humor and tolerance. I do think I saw a bit of fire when I think she contemplated strangling Colbert with his own mic cord. A placid, cool lake with fire underneath, what more could you want for a representative? I think she came out looking strong. Some of it was mildly painful but I think, contemplated as a single piece, it was all good.
