Humorists take aim at TV coverage of missing plane

It looks like there is a long line of comedians who are taking shots at the cable news networks and CNN particularly for obsessively and ridiculously covering the Malaysian Airlines plane disappearance. The bad news is that CNN almost doubled its ratings during this period among the much-coveted 25-54 age group, making Fox News jealous. So next time around, you can be sure that the coverage will be even worse.

First off, here are two editorial cartoons.

Then humorist Andy Borowitz’s parody of the CNN news chief apologizing to viewers for briefly shifting its focus to Crimea is not that far off from reality.

Stephen Colbert got in his licks well. In addition to showing the ‘psychic medium’ Lisa Williams who had the unfortunate timing to confidently assert that the plane had landed in a jungle with survivors just two days before it was announced that it had crashed into the Indian Ocean, he also informed us that some anchors had resorted to numerology and that Fox News host Bill Hemmer seemed to think that Noah’s Ark had also been found!
