The Republican downward spiral continues apace

I wrote earlier about the puzzling insistence of the Republican party pursuing policies on birth control that are guaranteed to alienate women. Jonathan Capehart describes how they seem to be deliberately pursuing policies that alienate African Americans and Latinos as well.

Since the truth-telling of the first 12 pages of the GOP autopsy, the Republican Party has energized the black vote for the Democrats, and it’s alienated Latino voters. How it plans to regain national relevance — let alone regain the White House — without the latter is beyond me.

But not to worry! Some of them have a cunning plan and that is to call for the impeachment of president Obama! For exactly what “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” as the constitution requires? Well, no one is quite sure but the key thing is to decide on impeaching first and find reasons later. The main thing is that Fox News thinks it is a good idea.

They say that those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad. Well, the GOP seems to be rapidly approaching the first stage.

The Daily Show looks at the GOP’s missteps on racial messaging.

The impeachment hearings going on now at the House Judiciary Committee seems to be a case of children playing at being adults. It’s just political theater.

It wouldn’t bother me if they tried to impeach Obama. Their last attempt at destroying the USA during the government shutdown didn’t work too well for them. This wouldn’t be any different.

Hopefully they will schedule it for October, 2014, right before the next elections. That may well end our Tea Party problem for a while.

PS It would also be pointless. They don”t have the votes to convict in the Senate and they know it. And if they did all that, the next president would be…Joe Biden.

Why does the GOP like Joe Biden so much? He’ll be president if Obama is forced out of office, not Romney or some other Republican.
