Sometimes people like me focus too much on what is wrong with the world. It is done with the best of intentions of trying to improve things but it can leave one depressed, with the sense that everyone and everything is in bad shape. I needed something to cheer me up and I found it.
I have linked before to the videos produced by Russian dashboard cameras that have featured spectacular crashes, reckless driving, assaults, and crimes. But thanks to Travis Okulski, I came across this Russian dash-cam video of ordinary people doing random acts of kindness to strangers to help the old, infirm, children, animals, and people in distress.
It is good to be reminded from time to time of the essential goodness of ordinary people. It gives hope for the future and teaches you the importance of being kind and considerate to the people who are right in front of you.
Random acts of kindness are never too small. Thank you for sharing that.
Well, I guess misguided acts can be too small. Like praying for someone.
@ nobonobo, except that praying could hardly be considered an “act”, could it? Mano, thanks so much for this short video. We never know how our small acts of kindness can multiply, but I believe that they do, and if not, then still, they are not wasted. I speak from my own perspective of enlightened self-interest, wherein each act I commit that benefits another also benefits me, in that I feel that much better about who I am as a person and how I fit into this grand mosaic of life. And that inspires further acts of kindness. I fall out of the loop on occasion, fall victim to self involvement, but the warmth generated by kindness draw me back again. I’ve never needed a god to inspire that, even when I was a believer.
Thank you. I needed that.
