More on the Randians who are looking for love

Yesterday I wrote about the online dating site called The Atlasphere dedicated to the followers of Ayn Rand who are seeking to find fellow objectivists. Stephen Colbert stumbled across the site and adds his commentary.

I heartily approve of this site.

Randians should only date and marry Randians.

That way the lives they ruin won’t be important and will never, ever involve…normal people.

I know this for a fact!!! I was a Randian myself once.

For a few weeks as a teenager. It took longer than most to realize it was just gibbering nonsense.

I never was a Randian, but I dated one in High School. More accurately, a girl that I dated in High School went on a search for religion/philosophy and decided she liked Objectivism. I received a boxed set of the complete works of Ayn Rand (in paperback) for Christmas.

“Do you swear to honor, love, and obey…”

“Whoa whoa whoa whoa, preacher man. What’s this about loving, honoring, and obeying? As an objectivist, I object to the word love. I’m just entering into a mutually beneficial business partnership with this man. I’d have nailed his dad if he wasn’t married just so I could inherit more when the old fart dies. You better leave out the honor and obey part too, because as soon as I see an opportunity to divorce him and take everything he’s got, I’m more than willing to do so.”

The idea of a hunting contest to kill invasive pythons is a good idea. Louisiana made a dent in its nutria population when they stated having nutria cooking contests. Texas has declared nutria a feral invasive species and encouraged year round hunting. Things were better when nutria hit five dollars a pelt in Russia, but now folks shoot nutria for fun and food.
