Maybe I’m being over-literal here, but to my mind, given the height of the gallows, the hangman gave the condemned too much rope to hang him

Sorry Chris, but I have a hard time finding this funny.

That’s OK … I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter what I post I’m going to offend somebody, and then several other people will pipe up and say they’re offended too, even if they weren’t before reading a comment from someone else saying they were offended.

Someone who takes his name after an ancient artillery device is offended by a cartoon about a hanging? I think my irony meter just busted.

@#4: I’ve got no argument for that! Please note, however, that I didn’t say I was offended — that’s really overstating it. It’s just an unfunny topic. Like war. And war machines. And … I got nuthin’. i’ll shut up now and go back to imagining flying pumpkins.

I alway remember Black Jack Ketchem when hanging is invoked, but its amusing when the initial thought subsides.

The assumption of readers’ offense to your posts is frankly offensive.

I chuckled. Oh well. I guess not everyone appreciates gallows humour.
