I don’t know about the rest of you dog lovers, but I’ve had just about enough of the overrepresentation of cats on the internet — and even right here on FTB!
Face it, you cat lovers who think your “Caturday” posts are so cool, dogs are just cooler than cats, and can be every bit as cute as your “adorable” kitties. In fact, they can be even cuter than your precious little kitties! Therefore, in the interest of equality and diversity, and to prove that dogs are just way cooler than cats, I hereby proclaim Monday “Muttday!”
I must, of course, start off what will be the first of many Muttdays by introducing everybody to my own awesome mutt – Grizzle, the world’s least scary pit bull.
Trying to make Grizzle look scary:
Grizzle at the doggie jail where he was incarcerated for three long years before we sprung him:
A much happier Grizzle, obviously thinking, “Hey, they didn’t have delicious treats like that at the doggie jail”:
And here’s Grizzle’s pal Freddie from across the street, chilling at our house like he does whenever his human is away:
And here’s some completely irrefutable proof from around the web that …
… puppies are just way cuter than kittens:
… dogs end up in even more inexplicably weird predicaments than cats:
… and dogs definitely have way more personality than cats:

Thanks! I was beginning to think that a love of cats was a requirement to be a good atheist.
You have an adorable dog!

Yes to more dogs!
My own mutt — Tito the Mighty Hunter
And my non-mutt — Ranger the Valiant Warrior

Although I would suggest not calling this event “Mutterday.”
That sounds like a bunch of old guys in bathrobes bitching about the paperboy throwing the Sunday newspaper in the hedge again.

That’s great that you have a no-kill shelter that kept him for 3 years! And kudos to you for the rescue!
Cat people are… odd. There, I said it!

Sez you, muttlover!
They run the gamut from A (slobbery enthusiasm) to B (slobbery relaxation).
(Cats are…complex.)

Grizzle is a beautiful dog – I love the white marking on his chest and neck!
And, yeah, dogs rule.

Cats can be good… when trained like dogs. Though they never do seem to obey nearly as well as a good dog nor as cheerfully. Our cat does come when called by name (or any of the extra names I’ve given him) and in the past I had one that heeled (kinda), came when called, knew down and stay, and would go rabbit hunting with me.
Still very much looking forward to getting out of this apartment and being able to have a dog.

I love dogs AND cats. I have four of each ( no I am not crazy– two of each were “can they stay with you for a couple of weeks?” . And, yes, I have learned my lesson).
Both species are wonderful companions. My eldest “reclusive roommate ” is currently warming my arthritic hip while I do my morning reading-in-bed. Later three of my dogs will delight in the fact that I came out in the back yard, while the fourth plays happily in the spray as I water my bonsai and herbs. Like I sad, great companions.

I’m with otrame. Why do so many people think it has to be an either/or? Dogs and cats are both great pets, for totally different reasons, but also for a lot of the same reasons. Right now, we only have a cat, because we are so busy and often not home on weekends (and a relatively small apartment).
They are both very cute too, as adults and kittens/puppies. =) I love them all!

Basically what Fastlane said.
Dogs and cats are good for different reasons. I have a cat, because if I had a dog I’d feel terrible about leaving it alone for ten hours daily – while a cat just tends to be very chill and actually happy about that. Then when I come home he gives me the ‘oh, I hardly noticed you were gone’ look, before flopping onto his back and purring at me.

Is that the same lovely dog who was helping you put up a holiday tree a couple of years ago?
I’m a cat person, only because dogs tend to be needy, and I’m a curmudgeon. But, I have a Rottie granddog of whom I am incredibly fond. He’s Grandma’s Boy.

The kitten is actually my wife’s but don’t tell Mambo.

Fifi the Killer Pit Bull (shown in Lisp & Functional Programming glasses and a Burberry’s scarf) looked much like Grizzle.
