Camp Pendleton Cornered Into Ceasing All Large Religious Events After a Decade of Violations!

wrong

Say WHAAAT!?! When I first contacted Justin about Rock Beyond Belief 2 my primary motivation was to meet other foxhole atheists. I can honestly say there are more of us out there than the numbers truly reveal! Most of us are just content to live and let live. Perhaps, in that, I am the exception …

Check in from the Middle East

130122-beyonce-national-anthem-lip-sync-gif

So back in the States… I’ve been gone for quite a while and am always flabbergasted at the ridiculous level of nonsense that the American News Media focuses on. Since I’ve been gone President Obama was reelected, women can serve in combat roles, taxes have been raised on the wealthy, we are coming to terms …

US Military will not be building churches in Afghanistan

AR 165-1 12-3 k. Symbols. The chapel environment will be religiously neutral when the facility is not being used for scheduled worship. Portable religious symbols, icons, or statues may be used within a chapel during times of religious worship. Symbols are to be moved or covered when not in use during services. Distinctive religious symbols, such as crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David, Menorah, and other religious symbols will not be affixed or displayed permanently on the chapel interior, exterior, or grounds. Permanent or fixed chapel furnishings, such as the altar, pulpit, lectern, or communion rail will be devoid of distinctive religious symbols.

American Atheists just pulled off a huge win in Afghanistan. This is illegal: Kari Huus at NBC News reports: U.S. military commanders in Afghanistan on Thursday ordered the removal of a steeple and crucifix erected over a remote American base in the Muslim country after a soldier deployed there noted that the symbols violated Army …

OK Atheists: I reserve the right to circumcise the unsynagogued

anteater with arms out-stretched, as if to challenge someone. "Fuck You I'm an anteater!"

That’s right, the Oklahoma Atheists podcast hosts, Damion Reinhardt and Chas Stewart, reserve the right to circumcise the unsynagogued. Watch out all you heathen anteaters. Actually, the host’s statement wasn’t a non-sequiter at all. It an absurdist reduction of a military chaplain’s proclamation, “I reserve the right to evangelize the un-churched.” That chaplain refused my request for him …

Richard Dawkins speech at Air Force Base undermined at last minute

Richard Dawkins at Macky

The details are still unclear, but the U.S. Air Force Academy is no longer a viable host for a planned Richard Dawkins speaking engagement. Despite the last-minute military venue ‘no-go’, the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science secured the large Macky Auditorium at the University of Colorado at Boulder for Monday, October 15th. Military members are …

Weird personality test for Army Recruiters

TAIS USAREC Recruiter Scale Report for arc Justin Griffith

Apparently, I’m an extroverted introvert and I speak with authority while I question it. Neat. At least this personality test completely left off religion/spirituality. They were also spot-on about my ADD. I’m medicated though, so maybe I should have answered differently (I’m actually a little ‘too’ hyper-focused when medicated). It got weird near the end. …

Marine Corps heavily supports a doomsday sect in CA, why?

Chuck and Bob

SAN DIEGO, CA – Over the past decade, the local Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa has had unprecedented access to Marines at Camp Pendleton. Despite their controversial end-times message and history of sex scandals, the group has co-sponsored several high-profile concerts and other events with the approval of local Navy and Marine Corps commanders. Comprised of …

Two star general does the Macarena

how to macarena

This is the highlight / blooper reel for the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) [counter-intuitively shortened '1st TSC'.] This is where I have worked for 4 years. We just said goodbye to Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dowd, and he will be missed. He was always trying to show the human side of being a general. Often, he’d …

Atheist soldier, one of many forced to do yard work for Catholics

Image via EvolveFish

I received a few complaints about soldiers stationed at Fort Gordon, GA being forced to clean up an off-post Catholic property during the duty day. One was from a fellow foxhole atheist. (NAME / RANK WITHHELD) Justin – Got a question. [WITHHELD], has been tasks with cleaning/landscaping etc, a Catholic Church. This so far is …

Why American Atheists?

Accidents happen… When I first jumped into the fray of activism for the atheist community I had no idea that there was such a broad dynamic. I feel pretty lucky I stumbled into American Atheists. And I do mean stumbled. This whole ordeal came about for me by meandering into a situation where I had …
