Biography

Justin Griffith is the Military Director for American Atheists. Justin is spearheading Fort Bragg's 'Rock Beyond Belief' atheist festival, and demanding equal treatment for foxhole atheists - including local groups who are currently banned from even meeting on post. After failing the Army's mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing, the remedial training told Justin he could improve his Spiritual Fitness by starting an 'online blog'. You may have heard about it. :) "*Foxhole atheists are fighting for your rights. Please return the favor.*"

Infographic, Ya Blew It

from raw for beauty, shitty infogrpahic about unusual uses for lemon juice

My soldiers say really awful ‘science facts’ from time to time. More often than not, it comes from these shitty infographics on Facebook. How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways… These all the same thing: “Spot buster”, “Stain remover”, “Removes stains”, “Glass cleaner”, “Toilet cleaner” Plausible, citation would be helpful: “Sore throat …

Top 30 terrible comments about atheist soldiers on FoxNews.com

foxnews comment - the only good atheist is one already in h-ll

Illegal modifications to a military chapel in Afghanistan were abruptly reversed thanks to American Atheists. They had installed the only known church steeple in Afghanistan, and cut giant crosses into the doors of the ‘religiously neutral’ building. At night, light would emit from the crosses on the doors, shining like a miniature searchlight. Yesterday, Fox …

u mad Sarah Palin?

Achievement unlocked: I have pissed off Sarah Palin. I pissed off Sarah Palin. She’s angry that military can’t build churches in Afghanistan. twitter.com/SarahPalinUSA/… — Justin Griffith (@RckBeyondBelief) January 25, 2013 What are we succumbing to, America? The army orders “the removal of Christian symbols from a chapel.”I wonder… fb.me/27B0frJbs — Sarah Palin (@SarahPalinUSA) January 25, …

US Military will not be building churches in Afghanistan

AR 165-1 12-3 k. Symbols. The chapel environment will be religiously neutral when the facility is not being used for scheduled worship. Portable religious symbols, icons, or statues may be used within a chapel during times of religious worship. Symbols are to be moved or covered when not in use during services. Distinctive religious symbols, such as crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David, Menorah, and other religious symbols will not be affixed or displayed permanently on the chapel interior, exterior, or grounds. Permanent or fixed chapel furnishings, such as the altar, pulpit, lectern, or communion rail will be devoid of distinctive religious symbols.

American Atheists just pulled off a huge win in Afghanistan. This is illegal: Kari Huus at NBC News reports: U.S. military commanders in Afghanistan on Thursday ordered the removal of a steeple and crucifix erected over a remote American base in the Muslim country after a soldier deployed there noted that the symbols violated Army …

30 Laps Around The Sun

I’ve officially made it 30 laps around the sun. It’s going to be tough not being able to trust myself, now that I’m old. I’ve become ‘the system’. If somebody would have told teenage me I was going to join the military, I’d have asked them for some of whatever drugs they were on. My …

Jesus swam on the land (mild NSFW)

Jesus was way ahead of his time.

Did you know that ‘Land Swimming’ is the latest exercise craze? “It’s not just for the rich. Even blue collar workers can swim to work!”

The Feelies

I remember discovering The Feelies records about a decade ago. Something told me that it was so special that I should save them for a day when I gave up on music. I’ve done this with books too, refusing to read the last book in a series, or even the last pages. Finishing them seemed too fatalistic.
Now I’m older and though I haven’t given up on music, I now view my time-capsule hesitation efforts as pretentious. All it got me was a half-forgotten list of music and art that I cheated myself out of loving.

Think of the children!

soldier attempting to ride a camel lol

I posted about Fort Meade’s Facebook page and their Justin Bieber prank, shortly after it happened. They officially announced and then minutes later, officially cancelled a fake 15-minute event featuring Justin Bieber, Mila Kunis, and Barry Manilow. The target of the prank was actually the base commander, as he had been photoshopped into a Saturday Night Fever poster.

Despite the obvious fake event, extreme short notice, and the cancellation, some people showed up.

Baby wearing “Santa Doesn’t Exist” t-shirt: FIXED

Baby wearing Santa Doesn't Exist T-shirt (top) and baby wearing God Doesn't Exist t-shirt bottom

I’m not sure if the original “Santa Clause Doesn’t Exist” baby t-shirt was an ultra-Christian ‘reason for the season’ thing. Probably not. Either way, there could be many Santa-believing children who can read the shirt, depending on the family / situation. I think that this shirt would be much more likely to appear in a Christian …

US Army just punked all the local Justin Bieber fans at Fort Meade

Fort Meade actually posted this prank on facebook

Fort Meade, Maryland is home to the National Security Agency (NSA). Clearly, they’ve got some real ‘smart guys’ working there. The official Fort Meade Facebook page just announced a surprise visit from a ridiculous cast of characters. It was a ‘short notice opportunity’. Apparently, a few people actually showed up. They didn’t think it was funny… which …
