There are no atheists in foxholes buddy they all cry out to God when the shells are raining in. To hold an antheist event on a military post is unacceptable. Leave people alone and quit pushing your views on people. Without GOD our country wouldnt be what it is today and sadly because of groups like you taking GOD out of everything is why our country is sliding down a slippery slope to no return. Until our country puts GOD first we will continue to deterioate into a third world status, thats why they are the way they are because they dont put GOD first. I hope and pray GOD will convict your hearts to repent and come to His mercy and grace. Have a good day.

Hahahah! Does this guy know what a third world country actually is? He seems to not realize that third world countries are often among the most religious as they’re typically theocracies.

God is America #1 hit deity, and that’s why we’re awesome. But God’s not #1 in America, and that’s why we suck right now. 3rd World countries don’t have god as #1, that’s why they’re 3rd world. America doesn’t have god as #1, but we’re not 3rd world, so we will be really soon, seriously, like for sure.

Just to restate, most of my platoon were agnostic at least. My dog tags said atheist. It wasn’t an easy deployment, and it wasn’t a friendly area. People like this make me upset, to say the least.

The entire “no atheists in foxholes” thing (besides being demonstrably false) is so idiotic from so many different angles (as has been already pointed out).
Another angle is that even if it were true to a degree that people turned to a deity in a time of stress, how is that an argument for the actual existence of the deity?
People turn to all kinds of goofy things in times of danger and stress.
Using “There are no atheists in foxholes” as an argument for God is exactly like using “There are no disbelievers in alternative medicine in the terminal cancer ward” to argue for homeopathy.

Oh, this was so fun to read. Where to begin? I’ll start with this:

This “our country is sliding downward because atheists are trying to take god out of everything” argument is not only silly, but extremely flawed. I can logically interpret it in two ways:
1) Their god is so mean-spirited that he will make them all suffer until EVERYONE is a Christian, or,
2) Atheists are more powerful than god! Our mojo is so strong that it makes a force field around the nation that is impenetrable to god’s healing powers or answered prayers.

I just finished watching an episode of Greatest Tank Battles, this particular one was dedicated to the German Panzer ace Ludwig Bauer. At the end of the show his comment were ” War is an entirely complex and confusing thing. You pray to God to give you the strength and ability to destroy your enemy. But then, you realize that they pray to God to give them the strength and ability to destroy you. In the end of it all when I looked back at all of the close comrades that I lost and at the futility of the battles that we fought. That is when I realized that I had lost all faith in God.” So one might say, that in his view, there may not be atheists in foxholes, but they sure as hell are when they leave them. Throughout history, the brutality of warfare, has been a very fast way to remove faith.

I always love the “as soon as your in trouble, you’ll call for help from my god” argument. No, I won’t. I don’t believe he exists, so why waste my time calling to him. If I am in trouble I will do everything I can to save myself, which will not include wasting my time and breath calling to your god for the same reason I will not call for help from Superman, Darth Vader or Santa Claus.
