My all out War on Christmas was thwarted!

doctor who christmas

Every Christmas, I try to break down barriers on a face to face level. It’s all about increasing respect, visibility, and acceptance of atheists in the military community. I’ll always volunteer for the 24 hour staff-duty shift, that some poor bastard always gets stuck with. The staff duty job is assigned on a rotational basis, 365 …

Visual representation of atheists fighting for equality and winning

lights at Travis

This is a before and after shot documenting the rapid changes the commanders at Travis Air Force Base are implementing. I made Dan Rawlings’ quite legitimate ‘Let there be light…’ complaint public on Wednesday morning. The picture at the bottom represents Wednesday night. Click to embiggen. Foxhole atheists are demanding equality at every step. This …

Agnostic from Travis Air Force Base hates mockery, can’t spell ‘atheist’

lets have a little respect

The sign says “Have a safe holiday season”. But you’d think it said “I toss Christians into the Sun”, judging from the butt hurt coming out of this self identified ‘agnostic’ also stationed at Travis AFB (verified) who hated the signs. “I think it’s more than a bit funny that you **NEED** christianity in order to define your faith …

Free “Artificial CHRISTmas Tree”

Artificial-CHRISTmas

Once again, Fort Bragg area Craigslist weirdos provide hilarious blog fodder. Last time, we were all accused of being ‘absconding interlopers’ by a five time violent felon. Good times. This week’s adventure brings us no closer to sanity. Artificial CHRISTmas Tree *** Curb Alert Christmas tree is sitting by the road – Trash man comes around …

Navy ship’s Christmas party fundraiser lead to the Navy’s “1st gay kiss” photo

Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta, left, kisses her girlfriend of two years, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, Va. Gaeta's ship returned from 80 days at sea on Wednesday.

Apparently, there is a tradition involving a raffle with an interesting prize: first person off the ship!  Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta, an ‘out’ lesbian, won the raffle shortly before returning from 80 days at sea on Wednesday. (Brian J. Clark/The Virginian-Pilot/AP) This photograph captured an amazing moment at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek …

Travis Air Force Base now ensures uniformed lighting for holiday displays

American Atheists donated the twice-vandalized holiday sign to Staff Sergeant Dan Rawlings and the atheists at Travis MASH. The sign simply says “Have a safe holiday season – from the atheists at Travis MASH”. Rawlings remained in constant contact with me and described each step of his wildly successful efforts for equality. As we mentioned earlier, …

National Guard advertises on a foxhole atheist’s blog

national-guard-advertises-on-my-blog

The National Guard is advertising on a foxhole atheists ‘online blog’! These advertisements come from a large ad serving company, obviously. If you know how web advertising works, this is not as ‘cool’ as it sounds. So forgive me for building up this molehill. This is like the time I saw Military Intelligence jobs being …

Cold War account of why Mormons were over-represented as military translators

This is an excerpt from a very funny atheist Army veteran. I had no idea that many Mormons use/used the military as a way to learn languages for their missionary work. It makes sense. Late in her career, she describes being harassed simply for being pregnant or a woman, etc. The harassers were the same religious people who spent …

The atheist sign at Travis Air Force Base was vandalized again

vandals hit the atheist sign early on

This happened sometime before dawn, and is the second definitive act of vandalism. A piece of paper was scotch taped to the sign that said “GOD LOVES YOU”. In case this had to be said, this was not part of the sign. At least the vandals did not do permanent damage, but this is troubling …

Let there be light, and a lot more of it for baby Jesus

Let there be light, but much more of it for baby jesus

Fresh off of being vandalized, the officials at Travis Air Force Base secure the lighting for the atheist sign. Sounds good right? Well like many parts of the story, it’s once again 2 steps forward, one step back. Progress, but seriously… what the hell? They took down his 120 watt bulb, and replaced it with …
